Just Answers ‘Christian’: being born into a Christian family doesn’t mean you are a Christian, just like being born into a family with a long generational list of footballers doesn’t automatically make you a footballer. Some things require personal commitment, training, studying and practicing. Including living a Christian life. So many of us are in this category. You want to fill a form or answer the question: what religion do you belong to? You tick or write ‘Christianity’.
You can’t even remember the last time you went to church, or can count with your fingers how many times you’ve ever gone to church. The one who’s a church goer many times does it as a social obligation or a religious rite (Well, Christianity is not a religion) not as a Spiritual act-to hear what God has for them, to be a part of the local church as the scriptures commanded or to serve God in His vineyard and help in the growth of His Kingdom.
The ones who usually answers the question of what religion they are as- ‘I’m a Christian’ does so many times because they do not know what else they are. Answering a Christian is not enough, going to church is not enough either. Listen, Christian means followers of Christ, some definitions reads Christ like. What makes you a Christian is your relationship with Jesus. Your daily dying to self and living a life of holiness and righteousness. Being a light (God’s light) in this world. Living to honor the Lord and doing all you do in His name and to His Glory. Standing firm in the face of adversity, trials and temptations, knowing that in all of these, you are more than a conqueror and that He will never leave you nor forsake you.
One of the ways to know if you are on the right path, growing and living for the Lord is how you can stand firm in all things and at all times. Saying that if the word of God says it, then that settles it. If it pleases God, then that’s what I’m doing. Conversely, the one who just answers ‘Christian’ or who is just a church goer does not stand firm in God’s word. His word is not rooted in their hearts. Any wind that blows can carry them along. Their decisions and choices are one of political correctness. If it fits your intelligence, if it feels right, then it’s OK.
Remember God is God, regardless of how you feel or how high your level of sensory perception is. He is God of all things and over all things. There’s no ‘when its church related, we do God, afterwards I focus on what I’m doing. I do not like bringing God into my business or business to God’, because ‘The earth is the Lord’s and its fullness thereof”. He is in all things. Whether you like it or not. The difference between you and anyone else is ACKNOWLEDGMENT. One acknowledges God in all they do. The other tend to separate Him from some parts of their life.
If you are a Christian. Truly be a Christian!
